Discolorization by additive ink and dye staining has been a chronic affliction for owners of all types of textiles. These are among the most difficult stains encountered. Many times they are considered permanent.
Dye stains in carpet are, by in large,
repairable. Inks, medicines, nailpolish, make-up, Kool-Aid, food and hair
dyes are only a few correctable examples. In these photos the original stain
was red food dye which the home-owner tried to remove with household bleach, and
then redye with tea. Repair was still able to be achieved.

However, there are very few spots or stains that are not correctable. This includes those black or blue blemishes that have caused many carpet patch jobs. With the ability to replace removed base color, the color repair specialist has the option to use the more aggressive and effective procedures. Success is much more likely. Although costs run higher than simple cleaning costs, they are still a fraction of the cost of replacement.
